Valahia University of Targoviste and Steinbeis Transfer Management agree to collaborate

June 24th, 2020:  Laura Monica Gorghiu, rector of Valahia University of Targoviste and Juergen Raizner have concluded the discussions ocassioned by Steinbeis Transfer Management director`s visit to Targoviste on June 12th, 2020. A Memorandum of Understanding is signed in order to establish a Steinbeis Transfer Center (STC) at Valahia University of Targoviste (UVT).

New STC will be specialized on energy efficiency issues and will be very close to activities initiated by The Energy Environment Research Department – DCEM (“Departamentul de Cercetare Energie Mediu”).  Competencies of other institutes at UVT will be involved in future project work in order to facilitate synergies.

About Energy Environment Research Department – DCEM

DCEM was founded in 1993 in the framework of University Valahia of Targoviste and represent one of the first self-financed research structures in Romanian higher education. In 26 years of activity, the research directions addressed by the achievements of the research as well as dissemination activities carried out, DCEM gained an important place in the hierarchy of national research structures in the fields of Electrical engineering, Renewable energy sources, Power engineering and Automatic and Informatics with the specifically activities:

    • Applicative studies and researches in the field of science and technology;
    • Professional expertise dedicated to SMEs;
    • Consulting and feasibility studies in the projects;
    • Design, realization, experimentation of new technologies, materials, equipment;
    • Standardization application for energy systems;
    • Transfer of technology and specialized information;
    • Realization of scientific reports and papers.

    • Nicolae OLARIU, Director of DCEM-UVT

He is professor in the Automatics, Informatics and Electrical Engineer Department – Valahia University of Targoviste. He is an experienced technical expert in RES Systems as well as in energy storage systems. His contribution is to define the clusters of energy sources and the strategy directions  and methodology for the research activities. The main research directions for interest: (1) Renewable energy sources; (2) Computer-aided projection; (3) Development, Appreciation, Monitoring and Control of the PV applications, (4) Hydrogen society. Nicolae Olariu has participated/coordinated over 40 national and European projects for research and education. Since 2008, he is the President of the Employer Association “New Energy Sources” – SUNE from Romania.

 

    • Researcher Ph.D. Gabriela MĂNTESCU – Head of the Laboratory

She is the Head of laboratory “Integration of renewable energy systems in the built environment” from the Institute of the Multidisciplinary Research for Science and Technology and researcher in the framework of the Energy Environment Research Department from Valahia University of Targoviste, since 1998. She holds a Bachelor Degree of Mechanical Engineer, Hydraulics Systems and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University Politehnica of Bucharest, Romania and a Master Sc. Degree in Business Law within Valahia University of Targoviste. Her research activity includes (1) Renewable Energy Sources, (2) Hybrid photovoltaic/thermal systems, (3) near Zero Energy Building (nZEB). She has experience in over 30 European and national projects for research, development and education (programmes INCO-COPERNICUS, FP6, FP7, PNCDI I, II, PNCDI III) and also, in didactical activity at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Information Technology from UVT. Since 2000, she is the responsible for organization of the annual editions of the “National Conferences of New and Renewable Sources” CNSNRE (http://cnsnre2019.valahia.ro).
